Santa Cruz Overnight Camp

Marine Exploration

Marine exploration is an exciting program for campers, 4th grade and up. Taking advantage of our location just a few miles from the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary, campers will get to know the marine world through activities about the water, on the water, and in the water.

Each activity day morning (there are 6 activity days in the session), campers will adventure out to explore and discover the marine world. They will start with a visit to the tidepools at Natural Bridges State Beach. Other excursions change from year to year but here are some likely options:

  • Visits to Seymour Marine Discovery Center and/or the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary Visitors Center.
  • Surfing
  • Stand up Paddle Boarding or Kayaking
  • Exploring the streams, creeks, and rivers that flow into the Pacific Ocean.
  • Healthy oceans: Studying the effect of trash and pollution on our oceans.
  • Deep Sea Boat tour.

Join us if you are ready to take advantage of the amazing ocean that is just down the hill from camp!

This specialty is offered Session 3 (July 8-20, 2019) for $650.
