Our Adventure campers (6th grade and up) are born with that ‘wild’ streak! They look for and find adventure every day and at camp we help them share that passion with like-minded campers, under the watchful eye of our experienced trip leaders. Adventure campers participate in some regular activities each day at camp, but also have the chance to experience some amazing off site trips and on site adventures. We are especially excited about this year’s Adventure camp program.
Here is a sample schedule from year’s past. This summer’s itinerary isn’t finalized yet.
Activity Day 1. Ropes Course. Explore our own Hilltop Ropes Course. Build team skills that will help on our upcoming adventures.
Activity Day 2. River rafting on the American River. Our partnership with Mariah Wilderness Adventures goes back 10 years. We camp river side at their beautiful, private campground before setting off on a 2 day rafting adventure along the South Fork of the American River.
Activity Day 3. Sea Kayaking. Back from the river, we set out for an ocean adventure with another longtime partner, Kayak Connection of Moss Landing. Their knowledgeable and fun loving guides lead our campers on a 2 hour exploration paddle on Elkhorn Slough. This tour is really about the wildlife with seals, sea otters, and an abundance of sea birds all on show.
Activity Day 4. Segway Tour. Always a huge hit, we are going back to our friends at Segway Santa Cruz for a tour along West Cliff to the Santa Cruz Lighthouse and Natural Bridges.
Activity Day 5. The Great Adventure Mystery. Follow the clues to adventure right here at Kennolyn. Our own version of “letterboxing” this fun activity will have the kids hiking, using compass navigation, and following a set of clues.
Activity Day 6. Survival! What if you had to survive in the woods? Could you do it? Our adventure campers will join expert instructors from Adventure Out for a hands on, exciting workshop on shelter building and creating fire by friction.
