A Typical Day

CampersTime at camp is divided between Activity Days and Special Days.  Although each day is slightly different, here is the basic routine:

After a relaxing night in our cabins, we wake up refreshed at the sound of the bell and the smell of a home-cooked breakfast. Waking up at 7:30am and having a hot breakfast with your bunkmates and counselors is the perfect start to a fun-filled day. After breakfast we get ready for activities, but first we must ensure our cabins are clean and tidy (there is a Golden Sponge award to strive for!) and meet the rest of camp on the lawn for Flag Raising at 8:40am. 3 hours of activities fill the rest of our mornings, with breaks for snacks, water and the restroom as needed.

Ping PongLunchtime! Hot lunch with a fully stocked salad bar, this is the perfect fuel to keep us going all afternoon. Lunch is a time for us to catch up with our bunkmates and counselors and share our achievements and stories from earlier activities. Immediately following lunch we have our much loved siesta; an opportunity to recharge our batteries. Many younger campers use this time to relax and benefit from a quick power nap and older campers often catch up on some reading or the chance to write a letter home. Following our afternoon activity schedule is Family Hour, a chance for the cabin to spend time as a family unit and choose an activity. Family Hour can be time at the pool, tennis courts, campfire stage planning your cabin skit, the ropes course, crafts area or even challenging another cabin to a game of volleyball. These are just a few ideas, see how many your cabin can come up with.

Dance NightDinner is an extension of Family Hour. Once again we eat as a cabin, sharing stories and laughter. The Caldwell Lodge is filled with the sound of happy and excited campers in between bites of a hearty meal. A fresh and fully stocked salad bar is another important addition to this meal, as well as a tasty dessert.

Evening activities begin at 7:15pm and vary each night. Some camp favorites include Campfire, Scavenger Hunt, Egg Drop, Movie & Dance Night, Counselor Dress-Up and Trivia Night.

Campfire is the all time activity highlight. Campfire begins with songs and an opportunity for special announcements from counselors, we often hear of a camper braving the ropes course or hitting a bulls-eye on the archery range. Campers take their bow and learn the importance of supporting one another through challenging activities and the positive experience of being publicly recognized for their achievements. Each cabin also performs a skit during the session; it can be a song, mime, dance or original piece of work. Imagine a campfire with 200 campers and counselors singing under the stars as musicians and actors entertain us on the stage!

It has been a long day filled with activities, songs, laughter and most importantly, great friends. It is now time for bed as we have been going non-stop for 13 hours! Campers head to their cabins at 8:30pm and get ready for bed with lights out at 9pm. Senior Campers have a special evening activity each night from 8:30-9pm and turn in afterwards.
