For campers entering 4th grade and older in Session 2, 3 & 5. Our newest specialty will provide campers with the basic skills to create yummy dishes and give them the confidence to apply their skills at home. This specialty will combine 2 hours of hands on kitchen time each activity day along with an additional hour of outside the kitchen learning. These additional activities will include a trip to our local Farmer’s Market, a tour of an organic farm, even a tour of our own camp kitchen.
Time spent in the culinary arts studio will be very hands on. Each chef will have their own equipment and cooking area. Often using ingredients gathered on the various field trips or from right here in the Kennolyn garden, campers will learn how to cook several different dishes with each day’s instruction building on skills already learned. After 5 days of learning and practice, campers will have the opportunity to participate in a Top Chef style showcase where their new skills will be put to the ultimate test; the taste test. In addition, each camper will leave camp with a collection of recipes which they can take home to use for years to come!
